BIG IDEA
There is no minimum age to give consent or refuse your medical care. You are able to make medical decisions when a doctor is satisfied that you are “capable”.
In British Columbia, there’s no set age for making your own medical decisions. If your doctor believes you understand the treatment and its risks, you can consent independently—even if you're under 19.
